Setting Goals – Living the Life You Are Designed to Live

Have you ever wondered why you were put in this place, in this time, in this city? Well, I’ll tell you. Somewhere out there in the space of infinity, there’s a God who has a plan for your life. That plan includes a purpose, and you’ll know that purpose when you stop long enough to listen to the Master Plan.

I used to think people who spouted life purpose were off their every lasting rockers. In fact, I’ve actually told a few that they needed new rocking chairs in the cage ward of the local hospital. But, those days were back, before I began to listen and understand that we each have a purpose and a cause in life.

Now, my kids think I’m a wack job who needs a new rocking chair.

In reality, the purpose in life does exist and once you’re there, living your purpose, you’ll begin to realize how much of your purpose of life you can control simply by scheduling goals and achieving them. Setting goals will help you find and achieve your purpose in life.

How can you set goals that will benefit your life?

1. Consider personal desires as you set your goals. Do you really want to do what you’re planning to do? Is there room in your schedule for the activities required? Will you spend the necessary time on the activities to accomplish the task?

2. Consider your talents and skills. Do you have the skills necessary to move forward toward your goals? Do you understand the basic requirements for your goals? Have you made an effort toward this project before and achieved your goals? Are you thinking realistic capabilities and skills?

3. Dream a little, shoot for the stars. Sometimes we get so bogged down in the ‘reality’ that we forget to go for the dream and focus on the stars.

Caterpillars can’t fly, but they dream of drifting on clouds fluttering on the breeze, and sucking sweet nectar from tall flowers. Butterflies fulfill the dreams of caterpillars.
