WordPress is well known for its ease of installation. Under most circumstances installing WordPress is a very simple process and takes less than five minutes to complete. Many web hosts now offer tools (e.g. Fantastico) to automatically install WordPress for you. However, if you wish to install WordPress yourself, the following guide will help. Now with Automatic Upgrade, upgrading is even easier.

The following installation guide will help you, whether you go for the Famous 5 Minute Installation, or require the more detailed installation guide.

Things to Know Before Installing WordPress

Before you begin the install, there are few things you need to have and do.

Begin your installation by:

  1. Checking to ensure that you and your web host have the minimum requirements to run WordPress.
  2. Download the latest release of WordPress.
  3. Unzip the downloaded file to a folder on your hard drive.
  4. Be prepared with a secure password for your Secret Key
  5. Print this page out so you have it handy during the installation.

Now here is the information I promised you.  I use Bluehost for most of my blogs.  They have two free apps available that will get WordPress up and running in well less than 5 minutes – Fantastico or Simple Scripts.  You do not need to use ftp or file manager or anything else.

Ever sent a link to your friend up some idiot crashing into the wall on his skateboard? Well, that’s social bookmarking! The main function of the top bookmarking sites is to keep a list of all your favorite sites and organize them into a single location.

If you’re wondering whether or not you should join a social bookmarking site, there are some pretty obvious ways to tell it would be a good fit.

Think about the last time you shared a website you liked. If your friends liked it and commented on how you always find the best stuff, consider joining a wet site like Digg or StumbleUpon. You might have an eye for finding popular websites, and this could help you build quite a following online.

You can even make new friends online based on similar interests in websites. Looking at other people’s bookmarks is a great way to find new content online, as well as make connections with others who like the same kind of websites.

You may have a knack for this sort of thing. Some people are early adapters’, which means they can spot new trends easily and before most people can. Things like viral videos and hot songs may be clear to you before they have racked up all the views and plays that make them popular.

In other words, stuff that you find interesting ends up being really hot months down the line.

If you prove yourself to be an early adapter, people will follow your lead. Everyone wants to be up on the latest trend, and they use early adapters to find those trends before other people.
