The Easiest Way to Get a WordPress Blog Up and Running on Your Own Domain

The following is information from the WordPress.Org website.  I am not scrapping information but I wanted you to see it without any changes.  Make sure you look at the end of this article for the easiest way to install WordPress on your own domain.

WordPress is well known for its ease of installation. Under most circumstances installing WordPress is a very simple process and takes less than five minutes to complete. Many web hosts now offer tools (e.g. Fantastico) to automatically install WordPress for you. However, if you wish to install WordPress yourself, the following guide will help. Now with Automatic Upgrade, upgrading is even easier.

The following installation guide will help you, whether you go for the Famous 5 Minute Installation, or require the more detailed installation guide.

Things to Know Before Installing WordPress

Before you begin the install, there are few things you need to have and do.

You need access to your site and its directory and software to proceed with the installation. These are:

Things You Need to Do to Install WordPress

Begin your installation by:

  1. Checking to ensure that you and your web host have the minimum requirements to run WordPress.
  2. Download the latest release of WordPress.
  3. Unzip the downloaded file to a folder on your hard drive.
  4. Be prepared with a secure password for your Secret Key
  5. Print this page out so you have it handy during the installation.

Now here is the information I promised you.  I use Bluehost for most of my blogs.  They have two free apps available that will get WordPress up and running in well less than 5 minutes – Fantastico or Simple Scripts.  You do not need to use ftp or file manager or anything else.

Improvise for Results

Here is a follow up article to yesterday

Are You Willing to Improvise to Achieve Results You Want?

By Vladan Nikolic

Leaders are open-minded, they are willing to improvise and excessively leverage on successes achieved by others.

Leaders are calculated challenge seekers. They know that it could be lonely at the top. Their willingness to do whatever it takes to get there is not possible without constantly reinventing themselves. Their mind is curious and open to new opportunities and ideas. One of the certainties in life and business is constant change and good leaders accept this fact and are prepared to it. They find the inspiration and ideas from their own experiences but also from competitor’s practices and other people’s success stories. Everything starts with an idea in someone’s mind, but sacrifices and efforts have to be made to make it vivid and prosperous. Actions must follow as nothing moves in life and business without it. Leaders are always willing to improvise if and when everything else fails. They test, measure and perform different analysis and applications on the same problem in order to find better solutions. They know when to seek help and when all known and possible avenues have been explored. Knowing their own limitations serves as a breakthrough point where leaders borrow on strengths and capabilities of others to make their vision possible. Someone might say that there is a great deal of luck involved in every success story out there. The truth is that there is always more about preparedness and willingness to it than a mere hoping and wishful thinking. Action drives willingness, procrastination breaks good intentions. Being prepared and taking massive focused actions ensure great results. Do your research thoroughly and find out what tasks to delegate, where are the bigger opportunities, what is missing that if provided could propel even further the success that you, your employees and subordinates have ever dreamed about.

Leaders are results oriented. They build their teams on strengths, not on improving minor weaknesses.

Having in mind the best interest for their businesses, leaders constantly improve on how they do things, how they conduct their business, how they encourage innovation and so on. They understand that the only thing certain and inevitable in life and business is change so they adopt and seek out opportunities to expand. The leadership mastery in getting results reside in bringing out and leveraging on other people skills and knowledge, creating complementary teams of high performers and getting their shares for every project and objective co-created to get desired results. On the other hand, when stakes are high, people feel tense and seldom reason in a good possible option. They overreact and seek validations to support their basic premises. In addition, it is always easier to find weaknesses in others than to acknowledge their capabilities. It is always easier to justify than to empower, to punish than to reward. Avoiding this trap is mandatory. When you build your case around effective collaboration and communication, where there are no places for unaddressed issues to be left hidden – you build trust and remove obstacles in team development process. No back-door politics, no hidden agendas! Face your problems with the honest approach to find opportunities in every obstacle you may find. Ask yourself and your team:

  1. Is there an opportunity here for a greater success?
  2. What is the best use of our time, skills and energy?
  3. What results do we want here? Are we all on the same page?
  4. Are we committed to the project?
  5. What is missing?
  6. What are the next steps?

Innovate to Continue Being Competitive

Running an internet business requires good business practices. Learning to stay abreast of changes and to innovate is a key to your success. Let me know what you think about this article.

Innovate and Be Competitive Or Disappear!

By Vladan Nikolic

All the great inventions of humanity, all that exist today that people created and made possible will at one point become obsolete and will be replaced by newer and quality improved products and services.

We replace physical things – old equipment, old softwares, old manuals, old procedures in the same way as we replace our old beliefs, old habits, and old way of doing things – our old way of being.

The way to higher self is burning and painful but challenging and rewarding at the same time. We have a tendency to trade-off and throw away, to destroy and unlearn our inefficiencies, inadequacies, failures for something of a higher value, newer and more effective. Our desire in other words is something that will serve and inspire us on the way to excellence; something that will increase our competitiveness and bring the highest return on investment. We should abandon everything else that does not produce results.

Similarly, as live ever-changing units, businesses are influenced and determined by markets in which they run, demands they intend to satisfy and serve, supplies and inputs they consume and passionate people who make them successful and grow.

The law of incremental improvement is telling us that in order to be competitive in years to come, we have to reexamine, redefine, improve and reinvent our business models, our people, and our practices on a regular and continuous basis. Unfortunately, this alone will be insufficient in days to come. The entrepreneurs, CEOs, business owners, and managers will face tough reality and immerse pressure while attempting to drive their units and do numbers they set for themselves. Things will get even harder with the innovations, outsourcing, new competitors, and changes in demands, market fluctuations and reactions. Shifts in customers’ experiences, preferences and market demands will be impossible to satisfy by simply following the pack. Shifts will happen overnight and only the most prepared will be able to absorb it. Only those brave enough to stretch beyond their comfort zone will prevail.

Is there a solution?

A business can be changed as a whole on every level of its existence. The power of small wins that work as catalysts of change and then grow in numbers and intensity can make a huge impact on every organisation. Process of reinvention today is organisation wide process. Key personnel in every modern and competitive organisation make constant improvements to practices and expect at the same time where and when market shifts are likely to happen, what impact will that have on the overall operations, and what will our business look if this happens.

They have to predict the future and there is no better way than to create the Exclusive one that fits perfectly into our goals, strategies, and models. Create your own future, perfect in all means according to your own measures. No matter how futuristic, innovative and unacceptable it might be today.

Final thoughts

Questions for you as leaders of tomorrow

  1. What are you doing today to put you and your business in the front seat once the opportunity arises? What strategies you anticipate to be clear winners in the future?
  2. How your products and services, facing the reality of being obsolete, stick to your goals & objectives? What are you doing to improve them or reinvent them?
  3. At what level is your game today? Are you playing it and dream big enough?
  4. Are you merely improving your business & operations or thinking and bringing into existence radical changes that will change both, the game you play and the field where you play, forever?

Predict, plan, design and create your future carefully. You will have the bright one if you do or you will not have one at all!

Have Fun with Social Bookmarking

Note from Webmaster: Are you still having fun running your internet marketing business or have you lost the joy? This article reminds us to stay in our joy camp and not to allow the pressures of the business to take all of our joy away.

The Fun of Social Bookmarking
By Val McQueen

Social bookmarking is fun. Maybe you have wondered what social bookmarking is, or how you yourself can get involved in it. But guess what? You have probably already done it. Probably quite a few times.

Ever sent a link to your friend up some idiot crashing into the wall on his skateboard? Well, that’s social bookmarking! The main function of the top bookmarking sites is to keep a list of all your favorite sites and organize them into a single location.

If you’re wondering whether or not you should join a social bookmarking site, there are some pretty obvious ways to tell it would be a good fit.

Think about the last time you shared a website you liked. If your friends liked it and commented on how you always find the best stuff, consider joining a wet site like Digg or StumbleUpon. You might have an eye for finding popular websites, and this could help you build quite a following online.

You can even make new friends online based on similar interests in websites. Looking at other people’s bookmarks is a great way to find new content online, as well as make connections with others who like the same kind of websites.

You may have a knack for this sort of thing. Some people are early adapters’, which means they can spot new trends easily and before most people can. Things like viral videos and hot songs may be clear to you before they have racked up all the views and plays that make them popular.

In other words, stuff that you find interesting ends up being really hot months down the line.

If you prove yourself to be an early adapter, people will follow your lead. Everyone wants to be up on the latest trend, and they use early adapters to find those trends before other people.

Social bookmarking can be a very enjoyable hobby. Give it a try and you just might find your new passion.

Sports wall decals and outdoor wall decor are cool ideas for your patio.

How to Save One Hour a Day

Save One Hour a Day – Effective Time Management
By Michael Angelo Caruso

I have no time saving ideas for you. Time, in fact, cannot be saved. Hyrum Smith, founder of the Franklin Planner time management system, tells of a man who approached him to say, “I wish I lived a hundred years ago when they had more time.” Indeed, everyone has the same amount of time and people who manage their time always have enough time. Here are 5 cool ideas on how to better manage your time.

1. The first hour of the day sets the pace.

Be very selfish with your first 60 minutes of consciousness. In my book, “5 Cool Ideas for Better Working, Living & Feeling,” I reference my “Power Hour” and how I use the first 60 minutes of the day to wake up individual body parts, enjoy consistent exercise and guarantee a bit of professional development.

2. Do the most important task first.

Most people spend the first hour of the work day greeting co-workers, getting coffee, sifting through junk mail and generally anticipating a particular routine. Time guru Dr. Stephen Covey advises us to do the most important task of the day first. The ability to prioritize is essential to effective time management. Constantly ask yourself, “what is the most important thing that I should do today?” Do this first. It follows that if you get only one thing done that day, you will have spent your time wisely.

3. Carry a portable office.

Traffic jams and waiting rooms are terrific opportunities to sneak in a couple pages of professional development. Rush hour became much less frustrating when I started using slow traffic as an opportunity to do more reading, er, listening. Always keep an audio book in your car. Always keep a professional development book with you. If you carry a book, you won’t be wasting time in the doctor’s waiting room, you’ll be learning something new.

4. “Pre-call” your allotted time.

Your day consists of time chunks. When you manage those chunks of time, you’ll have a better day. Limit non-productive, casual conversation by “pre-calling” the amount of time you have available. If you tell someone you only have five minutes to chat, they are more likely to honor your time frame. Be sure to excuse yourself after those five minutes. After all, if you don’t honor your time, why should others?

5. Book appointments with yourself.

Reserve chunks of time for yourself. Literally booking appointments with the most important person in the world – you. If you don’t manage your clock, someone else will.

Michael Angelo Caruso has delivered over 2,000 keynote speeches and presentations on the subject of communication.
